Kristofferson has 13 Grammy nominations, including three for Best Country Song for 'Help Me Make It Through The Night' from Kristofferson's 1970 album. In 1984, he won the Oscar for Best Original Song with Willie Nelson for 'Songwriter', and in 1976, he won the Golden Globe for 'A Star Is Born'.
'A Star Is Born' actress Barbra Streisand honored Kristofferson by releasing a statement and wrote: 'The first time I saw Kris perform was at the Troubadour Club in Los Angeles. I knew he was a special artist.'
Kristofferson, who was born in June 1936 in Brownsville, Texas, has a history of acting in the film 'Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid' made by Sam Peckinpah, 'Heaven's Gate' opposite 'Christopher Walken' and 'John Hart'. Taqas' in 1999 against Mel Gibson and 'Maria Blue' and the 'Blade' trilogy with 'Wesley Snipes' and in Martin Scorsese's 'Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore' was seen opposite Ellen Burstyn.
