'Outer Neh Veh' or 'Arthur Ashin' praised the works of Oscar-winning director Asghar Farhadi in an interview with Over Culture magazine. The 42-year-old American rapper, who has been writing and composing songs since 2010, says he has always been interested in 'complex and hyper-intellectual' films such as the works of Michael Haneke, Lars von Trier and Celine Ciama.
This singer from New York says: 'I saw the movie 'A Rare Separation from Simin' in the movie theater because it had
achievements and I think it was nominated for an Oscar. And then The Salesman) – both of these movies were interesting to me at the time because they were supposed to be thrillers, but they were just about people. What connected with me about his films and still does – or even [David] Cronenberg, who I used to love – is that they are arresting but also full of meaning; Not only the sense, but behind that sense there is thought.'
The rapper continues: 'It's not that Farhadi's films are smart - they're brilliant. But the first thing that comes to mind is how these humans deal with human problems, and how they deal with personality. My favorite movies are 'Syrian Wednesday' and 'About Ellie'. The trailer format of both is more than 'breakup' and 'salesman,' and although they are almost genre films, they are, above all, about people trying to cope with an environment.'
